The Beginning

“Álvaro from now on you need to start writing a blog for your website, it will help you out, and it’s a good way of showing more of you, or even teaching more Spanish or even Zumba through it!”

This is what I’ve been told, and to be fair, I did have a blog as a teenager and I kind of missed it! I miss writing so a big part of me is super excited for it, another part, even if it’s smaller, is terrified as this time will be in English!

Of course I will write in Spanish as well but the majority will be in English.

The first issue that I found when I started thinking about the blog was my worst fear for anything…

What about the first blog?

That same feeling of fear and panic, even anxiety every time I’m trying out something new…

The first interview, the first day at work in a new job, the first time writing a notice to leave that job, the first time going self-employed, the first Spanish class, the first Zumba class, the first time meeting someone new, the first time making a video, the first time making an Instagram story… And of course, the first blog post for my first website… Implosion!!!

After too much thought and definitely overthinking (quite normal for me), close to the limits of getting nervous about it! I decided to write about the feeling of writing my first blog as I had no idea HOW TO START IT?!?

And breathe

I definitely wanted a good start, something funny and entertaining and even more in these times where most people are self-isolating or in quarantine.

After this first blog, what are you going to see in the next ones? My life as a Spanish tutor and Zumba instructor, mixed with a hint of drama (always), I will be posting about the Spanish language, culture, history, vocabulary, extra stuff for whoever is learning Spanish can use in the beautiful process of learning a language!

You will also see blogs about Zumba, music I want to exercise to, how I learn, practice, or even create new choreographies!

These blogs will be a great way of getting to know me more, and all the work that is behind my business that normally you don’t see.

Now that the first blog is almost over… Get ready for lots more! I hope you have enjoyed this first one, that will help me lose the fear that I’ve explained before! If you can’t wait for the next one, follow me on my other social media where I post things daily!

  • Instagram (@avaspanishlessons) for words of the day, where I haven’t missed a day since I started! I also do quizzes, polls, Q&A, grammar, Zumba…

  • Youtube (AVA Spanish) for my videos about the Spanish language mixed with some humor, so you learn at the same time as enjoying beautiful videos recorded and edited by COG Photography, and Zumba videos as well!

  • My Facebook page (AVA Spanish Lessons), which I use mainly for advertising classes or talks, change of day or times for lessons, and some Spanish grammar!

  • Lastly, this website, my first one ever! Where you can book my classes both online and in person, subscribe to my monthly newsletters for free, and to read blogs!

¡Muchas gracias y hasta pronto!
